What is PMC?

PMC, (Precious Metal Clay) is a new material developed and patented in the 1990s by Mitsubishi Materials of Japan. Tiny particles of silver are mixed with a moist binder to create a material that is similar to modeling clay. Designs, shapes, and textures, created by the artist give each piece character. After drying, the pieces are Kiln fired to temperatures approaching the melting point of the metal. At this point the silver particles fuse together and become solid 99% silver. The piece can then be finished using a number of techniques.
